Notice to Law Enforcement
In effect from September 18, 2026
Planet is operated by DigitLumin LLC and these terms apply to planetjoi.com.
1. How to reach us
Law enforcement requests, legal process and preservation requests should be sent to support@planetjoi.com from an official government email address, on agency letterhead, signed by the requesting officer.
Include the agency, the officer’s name, badge or identification number, a direct telephone number, the case or reference number, the legal authority relied on, the specific account — a @handle or the email address on it — and the precise records sought and the date range.
We do not respond to requests for user data made informally, from a personal email address, or by telephone.
2. What we can produce
Subject to valid process, we may hold and be able to produce:
- basic subscriber information: the email address on the account, the display name and handle, and the account creation date;
- sign-in records: IP addresses, user agents and timestamps, for the period we retain them;
- transaction records: token purchases, what tokens were spent on, and creator earnings;
- call metadata: which accounts were connected, when, for how long, at what price, and whether a relay was used;
- message content, where it still exists and the process is sufficient to compel it; and
- creator verification records, including identity documents, for verified creators.
3. What does not exist
This section exists so that nobody spends a warrant discovering it.
The content of voice and video calls is not available, in any form, under any process. Calls on Planet are peer-to-peer: audio and video travel directly between the two participants and are encrypted in transit. We do not record, store, transcode, buffer or intercept them. Where a network forces traffic through a relay we operate, it passes as opaque encrypted packets we cannot decrypt.
There is no archive, no backup, and no key. We cannot produce call content to you because we never had it. What we can produce about a call is the metadata listed above.
We also do not hold full payment card numbers; those sit with our payment provider, who should be served directly.
4. Legal process we require
We follow the Stored Communications Act, 18 U.S.C. §2701 and following.
- Basic subscriber information: a valid subpoena.
- Non-content records, including call metadata and sign-in records: a court order under §2703(d), or a subpoena where the statute allows.
- Content of communications: a search warrant issued on probable cause.
Requests from outside the United States should come through a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty request or letter rogatory, unless another lawful basis applies.
We review every request, and we will narrow or object to one that is overbroad, legally defective, or that seeks records we do not hold.
5. Preservation
We honour a properly made preservation request under 18 U.S.C. §2703(f) and will preserve existing records for 90 days, extendable once for a further 90 days on renewal. A preservation request does not require us to create records we do not keep, and it cannot preserve call content, which does not exist.
6. Emergencies
Where we believe in good faith that an emergency involving a danger of death or serious physical injury requires disclosure without delay, we may disclose the relevant information under 18 U.S.C. §2702(b)(8).
Mark an emergency request EMERGENCY DISCLOSURE REQUEST in the subject line, send it to support@planetjoi.com, and describe the nature of the emergency, the person at risk, and why the information sought will help.
7. Notice to the account holder
Our policy is to notify an account holder of a request for their records before we produce them, so that they may object.
We do not give notice where we are prohibited from doing so by law or court order, where there is an emergency of the kind described above, or where notice would be counterproductive in a matter involving a child.
8. Child safety
We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children as 18 U.S.C. §2258A requires, preserve the associated content and records, and cooperate with the resulting investigation. Requests relating to a NCMEC CyberTipline report should reference the report number.
9. Cost and authentication
We may seek reimbursement for the cost of responding where the law permits. We may also take reasonable steps to authenticate a request and the identity of the officer making it before we act on it.
